The beginners' course takes place every year in August, starting on a Monday and finishing on a Friday. As you typically need to spend one overnight in Reykjavík on the way to Ísafjörður from abroad, you should book your flight to Iceland so that you arrive in Reykjavík no later than the evening of the Sunday. Similarly, if you are leaving directly after the course, you should not book a flight leaving Iceland any earlier than the morning of the Saturday after courseend. Please note that any overnight stay in Reykjavík is your own responsibility.

Deadline
We expect all registrations and payments to be done no later than June 30th. You are welcome to send an application after June 30th but applications/payments after that date will be dependent on availability.
Once you receive your letter of acceptance you need to arrange your travels and book your accommodation. Note that transport and accommodation is not included in the course fee.
Getting here
International Flights: If you are making travel arrangements from abroad there are several airlines flying to Iceland. All of them arrive at Keflavik International Airport. The international airport is located approximitely 50 km away from Reykjavík, Icelands capital.
Airport shuttle Keflavik - Reykjavík: You can travel by coach/bus to and from Keflavik Airport. The trip from the airport terminal to Reykjavík downtown takes approximately 45 minutes. You can buy the tickets and find further details on the websites of the coach/bus companies.
Domestic flight from Reykjavík to Ísafjörður: There are normally two scheduled flights daily between Reykjavík and Ísafjörður. They can be booked online at www.icelandair.com . Flights leave from Reykjavík domestic airport, not from Keflavík airport. Once you arrive in Ísafjörður, you can take the FlyBus from the airport directly to your final destination in Ísafjörður town for ISK 1.000. The bus to Ísafjörður waits outside the airport after every landed flight.
Public bus: Please follow the Visit Westfjords Official Travel Guide website for information about the bus timetable. Please get confirmed timings before making plans.
Rental car: You can also book a rental car directly from Keflavik and drive all the way to Ísafjörður. There are two ways to drive here. From Reykjavík to Ísafjörður via roads 60 and 61 along the east route of the Westfjords, 455 km paved road. Or via road 60 along the south-west route, 438 km, in parts unpaved. We advise you to plan in enough time! Maximum speed in Iceland 90 km/h – speeding tickets in Iceland are costly so keep your eyes open for speed limit signs. According to Icelandic law everyone must wear a seatbelt regardless of where seated in the car. Headlights are required around the clock, while driving. Driving off-road is forbidden! The number in Iceland to call for in case of an emergency is 112.
