Stefán B. Sigurðsson said goodbye after a decade as board member

The Annual General Meeting of University Centre of the Westfjords was held on Friday 5th of May. Apart from traditional objectives of the Annual Meeting, a new board was elected as well as chair of the representitives' council. Very few changes were made, Dóra Hlín Gísladóttir was re-elected as chair of the council and the UW board remains the same except for a new secretary, as Stefán B. Sigurðsson left the board and Martha Lilja Martensdóttir was voted in to replace him.

Stefán had been a board member since 2013 when he was nominated by the universities' cooperation committee, but at the time he was the rector of the University of Akureyri. After a decade of service, he was thanked for all his good work, his expertese and consultation, which has been essential for the University Centre.

As a token of appreciation, he was given a wooden oystercatcher, a prominent bird in Iceland in summer, and it turned out to be Stefán's favourite Icelandic bird.

UW wishes Stefán all the best in his upcoming ventures, which include coastal fishing on his own boat, and welcome a new board member and her substitude.

The board of the University Centre is elected every two years and the chair of the representitives's council every three years.
