The University Centre of the Westfjords is delighted to announce that Bjarney Ingibjörg Gunnlaugsdóttir is the new project manager at UW. She is born and raised in Ísafjörður and has been an integral part of the local music community. Her love for music was nurtured from early age ever since she studied at the local music school. Later she studied at the Complete Vocal Institute in Chopenhagen, Denmark. She has been a music teacher for 30 years but recently changed paths.
„I‘m exited to face new challenges as the project manager at UW. Managing project has been a big part of my life as a teacher and I was constantly creating new projects“ – says Bjarney Ingibjörg.
This fall, Bjarney Ingibjörg completed her master‘s in project management MPM at the University of Reykjavík. She has also been the project manager of the music festival „Við Djúpið“ which was brought back to life two years ago.
„When you‘ve been working in the same field for a long time, it is important to challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zone. That was the purpose of my studies but I also wanted it to relate to what I have been doing. It is healthy for a person to face new challenges, it keeps your brain moving“ – says Bjarney Ingibjörg
Bjarney loves the outdoors and swimming and has a lot of fun knitting. She also really appreciates a good cup of coffee.
