Many people have noticed that the new students housing is taking shape by Fjarðarstræti. There will be two buildings and currently work is being carried out on one of them, as it's supposed to be ready for move-in on 15 September.
The houses are prefabricated in Estonia and after ground work being finished by the locals, a large flock of workers arrived last month to construct the first building. Its progress is so quick that quite a difference can be seen daily. These photos were taken this weekend, when construction work was in full swing.
Each building will have 20 studios so all in all they will accommodate 40 students from UW. But as was mentioned above, 20 of those will be ready and furnished in autumn, however not until mid-September whereas the term begins end of August.
