Our case study deals with the values and attitudes of those who have a connection to Skjálfandi Bay and how those values are related to the equality and justice of the people in the Arctic. This case study was carried out by the Stefansson Arctic Institute as part of the larger JUSTNORTH project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, focusing on Justice in the North.
In my lecture, I will present our methodology to explore the local community’s values and attitudes toward their local ocean space, our work in the community on the ground, some results and what they might mean in the larger JUSTNORTH context. I will also present findings of our first case study paper illuminating values that were discovered in an additional analysis of social media networks.
