Hjörleifur Finnsson, Project Manager for Environmental and Climate Affairs at the Westfjords Development Agency, will be the guest at the University Centre of the Westfjords’ Science Lunch on Friday, January 17. He will present the findings of a newly published report on carbon offsetting in the Westfjords.
The report is part of the development of a climate strategy for the municipalities in the Westfjords, which includes a plan for carbon offsetting. The goal of the report is to provide a knowledge base in a simple report format, enabling the municipalities in the Westfjords to set carbon offsetting goals in their climate strategies and implement actions to achieve these goals. The report examined projects that are particularly necessary in the Westfjords, and Hjörleifur will elaborate on this in his talk.
Hjörleifur holds a master’s degree in Coastal and Marine Management from the University Centre of the Westfjords and a diploma in Public Administration from the University of Iceland. He previously worked as a project manager for a regional development project in Flateyri. He has also served as an environmental project manager at the Icelandic Tourist Board and as a park manager for the northern area of Vatnajökull National Park.
The presentation will take place in the cafeteria at the University Centre of the Westfjords and will start at 12:10. The presentation will also be streamed via a Zoom link, which can be found here: https://eu01web.zoom.us/j/69947471079
