In Vísindaport, this Friday, Rannveig Jónsdóttir will give a presentation on the operation of the Ísafjörður Art Museum. It was established on February 12th, 1963, and is the oldest art museum established outside the capital area. The museum has an interesting history, which Rannveig intends to discuss along with her vision for the museum's future since she began working there in the autumn of 2022.
Rannveig Jónsdóttir (b. 1992) is an artist who lives and works in Ísafjörður, where she was also raised. She completed her BA in Fine Arts from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2017 and her MFA from Malmö Art Academy in 2019. Rannveig works as a specialist at the Ísafjörður Art Museum, where she is involved in various projects related to the museum's development. Additionally, she teaches in the Arts and Innovation program at the Ísafjörður Secondary School and focuses on her own artwork, emphasizing sound and sculpture.
