Lunch Lecture: How to make a career as an author?

The author Satu Rämö will be joining us for lunch lecture this friday.
In her talk, Satu will reflect on how to build a career as an author. With 15 years of experience in the field, she knows that making a living solely from writing books is not very common. But when it does happen, what are the key issues one should keep in mind? She will share her insights into what it takes to turn writing into a fulltime profession — both the challenges and the opportunities that come with literary success.

Satu was born in Finland but moved to Iceland twenty years ago. She now lives in Ísafjörður with her family. She holds a BA degree in Icelandic as a second language from the University of Iceland and a master’s degree in economics from Helsinki, Finland. Satu has worked as an author for fifteen years and has written a wide range of books – including travel guides, textbooks, knitting books, and more. Many of us have heard of Satu, who rose quickly to fame with the HILDUR crime series.

The first book in the HILDUR series was published in 2022, and three more books have followed since then. The series has enjoyed great popularity and has sold over one million copies in print, e-book, and audiobook formats.

The presentation will take place in the cafeteria at the University Centre of the Westfjords and will start at 12:10. The presentation will also be streamed via a Zoom link, which can be found here: https://eu01web.zoom.us/j/69947471079
