Lunch lecture: Cycling tourist service

About the cycling tourist and the tourism service that has developed for them. Why do they choose to travel on bicycle, why in the Westfjords, where does Cycling Westfjords come from and where is it going?

Halldóra Björk Norðdahl is an Ísafjörður local. She has worked independent most of her life. First as a child caretaker, then as a seamstress with Dórukot, and now she runs the store Klæðakot in the town center of Ísafjörður.

She studied Tourism at the University in Hólar 2015-2020 where she graduated as a tourist specialist. Her final project was research on the touring cyclist’s experience of the Westfjords.

After her graduation she founded with well chosen partners the tourist service Cycling Westfjords.

Tyler Wacker will be joining her, who is also one of the founders of Cycling Westfjords. He came from Texas to Ísafjörður to study here at the University Centre of the Westfjords where he graduated from the Coastal Communities and Regional Development program. He got a grant from Rannís to cycle around the Westfjords Way and write about his experience of it and the infrastructure for cyclists around the route.

The talk starts at 12:10 and finishes at 13:00. It is at the. cafeteria of the Universtiy Centre, on the second floor. It will be streamed via this link: https://eu01web.zoom.us/j/6994747
