On the occasion of the Westfjords research association meeting in Þingeyri, UW decided to hold our weekly Friday public lecture (Vísindaport) outside of the UW building for the first time. Vísindaport is a venue to communicate interesting lectures to the public, and the Westfjords research association is hosting its annual event in ÞIngeyri, so it was a perfect time to combine the two events. We always say we are Háskólasetur Vestfjarða and not Háskólasetur Ísafjarða! The research association is an open group of people conducting research in and about the Westfjords. At the open lecture hosted by Blábankinn, members will showcase their latest projects in 5 minute presentations, so the audience will learn a wide range of current research in the Westfjords. Staff members from Háskólasetur Vestfjarða, Nátturustofa Vestfjarða, HÍ Rannsóknarsetur í Bolungarvík are among those who will introduce research on birds, archaeology, cod, place-attachment in coastal communities, and much more!
The lunch lecture will also be streamed https://eu01web.zoom.us/j/
