work in fisheries.

“Skuld” is a documentary about the coastal fishing season on the boat named “Skuld” or “debt” in Icelandic. The young couple Rut and Kristjan Torfi operate the boat from the community of Rif on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The film has been very well received and has won, among other things, the Motivation Award of the jury at the Skjaldborg Documentary Film Festival earlier this year.

“The Skjaldborg Motivation Award of 2023 goes to a film that the jury members found particularly warm, funny, and beautiful. A film that opens a window onto the world of smallboat owners and jig fisheries in a personal and fascinating way. The director uses a strongnvisual approach and does this exceptionally well both in front of and behind the camera so that the film deeply embodies love, initiative – and coastal fishing.”
